THOSE LOVELY MEMORIES (:

Wednesday
woke up at 6 in the morning and the first thing that came to my mind was: I don't wanna go for thimun. looyee,crystal,ethel,jia min,sherilyn and me met in compass at 7am and we took bus 156 from there. all of us were dressed in formal wear,so we were all wearing collared long sleeve blouse with skirt or pants. we really blend in well with those working adults,haha. reached hwa chong institution at about 9am,got our name tags from mr lim and we went straight into the different lecture rooms according to our committees to do lobbying. i didn't know anyone in my committee so i had to take the initiative to approach others and try to make friends with them. so after that,we started showing each other our resolutions. i co-submitted 2 resolutions- 1 is the forum on effects of atomic radiation whose main submitter is russia federation and the other is the forum on palestinian refugees whose main submitter is germany. the lobbying was for the entire day and we were all exhausted by 5pm. .

many things went thru my mind throughout the whole day. i was feeling very intimidated. i feel that i'm not even fit to go for this conference. everyone there speaks so fluently and they were all rich in english accent. many of them are from china and korea but they can speak so well,and why can't I?perhaps it's because of the fact that they study in international schools but i can't help but feel inferior. i feel i can't communicate with them properly and i can't really speak my mind out cause i'm afraid i'll say the wrong things. i was feeling so uncomfortable the whole day because i don't feel like myself. rahhhhh! how i wish i studied in an international school. i seriously need to improve my english =X


Today
woke up in the morning still dreading to go for thimun,but i told myself that today will be different frm yst. indeed,everything was way better than yst,it was sucha relief :D we started off with extended lobbying. oh well,there was nth much for us to do so we chatted with each other while the main submitter brought the resolution to the approval panel for it to be approved. got to know my friends better and we talked about more stuffs today =) after that was debate session. i didn't take part in any debates before so it's my first time. learnt lots of things and i really admire the way some people speak,it was fantastic,haha. i think the fun part was the passing of message slips. sometimes the debate gets so boring that we can just fall aslp anytime,so the only way to keep ourselves awake is to pass message slips to each other. of course,the message hv to be related to the topic that is being debated,but sometimes we just want to ask each other personal questions so we started using code language x) the funny thing was that,this RI guy told me that his friend took part in thimun last year,and there was this guy who wrote a message slip to a girl,it wasn't related to the topic at all but it was some sort of love letter. in the end,the admin staff passed the slip to the chair instead of the girl because it was not related to the topic and the chair read the message to the whole forum. of course,the guy was super embaressed,haha!

i learnt alot today,especially during the debate session. i couln't understand the procedures of a debate even after reading the notes,but today's session sort of clarified all my doubts. it feels totally different to experience the whole thing. i'm starting to enjoy this conference [:

meetings,meetings and more meetings! thats wad i've been up to for the past week.

preparation for thimun is going on well,although we are still not very prepared,but at least all of us came up with our resolutions alrdy. hoe kin will be the ambassador and he'll be giving the opening speech. that's so cool,haha =D i'm still doing some last min research,hope that i can understand more abt the country that i'm representing(ethiopia),so at least i wouldn't be making a fool out of myself there. yupp,just hope that everything goes well and that our efforts wouldn't go to waste. to looyee: you're doing great and we all can see you are putting in alot of effort for your resolution. so try not to think that you haven't done enough alright?have confidence in yourself,we're all gonna go through this together [:

np dinner and dance is tmr. looking forward to it,but i don't wanna go in formal wear. i'm gonna wear a dress tmr and i bet i'm going to look weird =(

RAH! i'm doing my thimun resolution and i'm completely lost. totally got no idea how to write a proper reso. i followed the format of the sample reso that mr lim gave us but my reso is only one page long. thimun is next next week and i think we are still very unprepared for it. we have only come up with a brief reso when other schs are alrdy lobbying with each other. i think we are just not committed to do this whole thing. firstly,all of us have to attend our ccas and it's usually very hard for everyone to be present during meetings due to date and time clashes. secondly,the research part is one big barrier. there's so much research to do that i think we are all drowning in it,plus the fact that information from internet is limited,it's very hard for us to find the answers to the questions we have. frankly speaking,i don't know much about the issues related to ethiopia. hving a hard time doing my resolution now,someone pls help me!

life this week is really hectic.

monday and tuesday i've been busy planning the urban hike for sec 1s and 2s with my np mates. we hv this event every year in np,it's something like amazing race around singapore and this yr it's our turn to plan (: we thought of all sorts of weird places for our juniors to go,shan't reveal too much now :]

wednesday morning i went to sch for a meeting on the prefects malaysia trip. seems like there's work for me to do again :D we split into committees and i'm the advisor for the programme and souvenirs committee. shareena will be the head of the committee. i'm sure she will do a good job,hope we can come up with all the proposals and stuffs by this coming wednesday. it's gonna be lots of work but i'm sure you can do it shareena =D after the meeting,i went for np meeting before heading home. then i met up with looyee,juvenal,cherlyn,pei yi and dudley at compass in the evening to go to wei jie's chalet. we were crapping alot on the way there and dudley was telling us about the teletubbies story,it was so scary and we all screamed in the bus,so loud that pei yi told me everyone were looking at us. haha,in the end dudley told us that he made up the story himself. rahhhhh! so we reached the chalet at around 7.45pm,ate some BBQ food,went to the beach for a walk and stayed in the room to play stress,carom,ps2. dad came to fetch me at around 11.30pm,i didn't stay overnight cause i still hv np the next day,the rest stayed though.

i was really worned out on thursday and friday. had the police knowledge course and homefront security course at hta(home team academy). woke up at 5am and met up with my np mates in compass at 6 plus. it was really tiring,cause hta is at choa chu kang. so we had to take 161 frm seng kang all the way to woodlands interchange,then take mrt to choa chu kang interchange and take bus 172 to hta. it took us an hour plus to reach there. the course was from 9am to 5pm on both days,and it was very boring. we sat there listening to one lecture after another,but no doubt we got to learn alot more about the law and SPF. so now i know by slapping people or hitting people,it's against the law,under section 323,cap 224- voluntarily cauing hurt. although it's not seizable,but still considered against the law. lol,sounds so chim right? haha,but i think it's kinda cool (: there's still alot more like causing grievous hurt to others and they are all put under different sections. i can't imagine a lawyer hv to memorise all of them. haha.

10/11/2006 - a day to remember (:

we had our class outing at sentosa yst,and it was simply great! had lots and lots of fun. thanks to mdm sarifah who organised the trip :D

had lessons in the morning but i guess none of us have the mood to study,haha. firstly,it's the last day of our bridging course and secondly,we were all too excited about going to sentosa xD
yupp,so the last lesson we had was chemistry and we begged ms chang to release us early,and she did! we were all too restless and making alot of noise,so i guess she had no choice but to release us 10 mins earlier. haha.

when we were released,some of us went to change into our class tee while some others went to rp to buy lunch for the class. all of us ate KFC. yummy! after that,we boarded the bus. on the bus,pris and me were folding hearts using the extra straws from KFC,lol. so after about half an hour,we finally reach sentosa,though it was raining,it did not spoil our mood.

we walked to cinemania to watch the 2D movie. it was a motion stimulator and the ride was nice =D there were 2 parts,one is on dinosaur and the other on roller coaster. i sat with pris,loo yee and juv and the whole class were screaming like crazy,especially loo yee,haha. next,we headed to the bus stop to take a bus to 4D Magix. the whole bus were filled with 3e2 ppl and we were making a hell lot of noise,haha,i think the tourists in the bus couldn't stand it also xD the 4D movie was on pirates and it was kinda scary because of the effects. like when the captain fall into the water,we could feel the water being splashed on us,and when the crabs were released from the cage,we could feel it crawling on our feets. there were still more,like the bees and the bats part,haha.

after the movie,we proceeded on to play luge! after 15 mins of queue,it's finally our turn! it was very very fun,and i wanna play it again! haha,after that,we all went to siloso beach and that's where all of us went crazy :D we were building sandcastles and thorwing sand at each other. daphne pushed me into the water and i was wet from head to toe,luckily i brought extra clotes =) then we buried bryan in the sand and we shaped him into a muscular guy,haha,a pity we didn't take a picture if him. played there for around an hour plus and it started to rain,so all of us went to wash up. showered ourselves and then we met at the shelter. it was still raining heavily so some of us bought ice-cream while waiting for the rain to stop. looking at the others eat ice-cream,cherine and i couldn't resist the temptation so we decided to buy one to share (: the rain finally stop and we went to take the chair lift. bryan lost his ticket and the worker said he have pay $4 to take the chair lift. so all of us begged the worker and he finally agreed to let him take the chair lift without paying,provided we sing a song. so,the whole class sang "rain rain go away,come again another day" :] it was nice to take the chair lift and just enjoy the beautiful scenery. i sat with xiao xian,juv and looyee. while on the chair lift,we were all very "high" and we started to sing songs! old chinese songs,haha. then the whole class played the bombing game on the chair lift. we shouted to one another and started bombing each other,weeeee! =D after that,we all waited for the bus to take us back to the visitor departure center.

from there,all of us walked to vivo city. the whole class thanked mdm sarifah together (: on the way to vivo,we held hands and sang songs again,haha. talked alot and as usual,we were making alot of noise =) we took class photo outside vivo,and from there,we parted. some of us went home while the rest decided to stay at vivo for dinner. i stayed for dinner and gosh,vivo was very very crowded. at first,we wanted to eat carls jr. but as there were 10+ of us,we couldn't find any seats. in the end,we decided to take away food from banquet and go up to the sky terrace to eat. we sat at the stairs to have our dinner. it was alrdy 9pm after we finish our dinner. so,xiang yu,lip young,gh,ck,ly,pris,juv,cher and me decided to go home. the rest stayed for a lil longer though. all of us slept in the mrt cause we were very tired.

i enjoyed myself thoroughly yst. had a good time in sentosa with 3e2! love all of you! of course,not forgetting our dearest form and co-form,mdm sarifah and mr rashidin! you guys rock! :D

last week was a rather lousy week for me,in the sense that there are just too many things happening at the same time and i don't know how to cope with it. i'm feeling much better now after those encouragements. instead of giving up when faced with a few setbacks,i think i should just make the best out of everything. i know i'm not the only one who is facing this,so perhaps i shouldn't be too affected by those stuffs. i admit i was very hurt after knowing about it,but come to think of it,we should all learn how to accept criticisms and comments. maybe only through these comments,we get to know where are our weaknesses and faults,from there,we try to improve on it :D

we had our kayaking lesson on thurs,and it was the last lesson. i just love the capsize drill (: we learnt about the t-shaped rescue which is to be done by 3 people. one of them is the victim,the other 2 being a main rescuer and an assistant rescuer. we formed into groups are 3s to practise doing the different roles,and i was with theresa and joey. hong hui,chong ee and kah wai were in a group. chong ee was the victim,kah wai the main rescuer and hong hui the assistant rescuer. so chong ee did the capsize drill and kah wai was suppose to rescue him by emptying the water in his kayak and turning it back so that chong ee could get in the kayak again. and as kah wai was emptying the water,chong ee did some funny actions and it made kah wai laugh till his kayak capsized too. then,aaron and hong hui went to rescue kah wai while theresa and me went to rescue chong ee. it ends up that chong ee did the same stupid action and it made me laugh until my kayak capsized also. haha,in the end,aaron and hong hui capsized themselves too. lol,and it all started in an attempt to rescue chong ee =X but anyway,all of us passed the course and managed to get our 1-star,woots! =D i think i'll be going for the 2-star course either during this hols or after o lvls next year. yay! i love kayaking! :]

there's the Subaru WRX Competition going during the weekend at ngee ann city. by the way,if you guys don't know what it is,it's a competition whereby the competitors have to put their hands on the car and the one who endures the longest wins a Subaru WRX. they are only given a 5 min break every 6 hours so you can imagine how tough it is. lol,alright,back to the topic. so they needed people there to promote coffee and i went to work there with pris,theresa,milfred and pris's cousin felicia. we were promoting Super Rich Coffeemix,haha. sat was our first day of work and our shift was from 7am to 4pm. we reached at 6.50am and went to change into our shirts (we had to wear the t-shirt provided by the company). there were many people there queuing up for the registration for the competition,so we started out by going around to serve the people with samples of the coffee. the sales only started to come in during the afternoon. it isn't wasy,cause you have to keep repeating the same thing over and over again to all of the customers. now i know why people always say "the customer's always right". no matter how rude they are or how bad their attitude is,we still got to put a smile on our face and be nice. we started work slightly later at 8am on sunday and maybe because we were more experienced then,we managed to sell more of the products =) by the end of the 2 days,my feet were aching very badly,and i think it was because of my footwear. we had to wear covered shoes and i wore flats. didn't want to wear sport shoes cause it looks weird. anyway,it was a wonderful experience,although it ain't easy but the feeling of earning your own money is simply great =] i'm currently looking for a job so if anyone of you have any jobs at hand,do recommend me! thanks! :D
