today's the last day of 2006. well i feel kinda sad saying goodbye to this year, cause next year's my o level year, and i know it'll definitely be a stressful one for me. well,no matter what,i'm gonna stay positive and face the new year with a smile =D now for the review of 2006,here goes..

2006 have been a tough year for me. it was a big challenge to take up leadership roles both in np and prefects, and at the same time, trying to adapt to upper sec life as well as making sure that i'm well-prepared for chinese o lvls. it isn't easy trying to strike a balance between studies, npcc, prefects, friends, family and my personal life. there are usually many time and date clashes for both npcc and prefects, and i always have to make choices. making choices is not as easy as i thought, but i think it's only through this that i learn how to prioritize.

cca plays an important role in my life, and to me it's all about commitment. i think to be committed in something,we always have to make sacrifices. for me,it was sacrificing my time with my friends and also time for myself. basically,my life have been revolving around npcc, prefects and studies. i don't really have much time for other stuffs, but i guess it was all worth it [: since the responsibility is given to me,i know i just have to do the job well. i admit i would want to have more time with my friends if i can,but everyone only has 24 hours and we cannot change that.

alright,now for the resolution for 2007 :D
1) to be consistent in my studies and to study real hard for o levels
2) not to be rude to my parents
3) better time management skills
4) not to always let personal problems affect my mood

lastly, wishing all of you a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! :D may 2007 be a blessed year for all of us (:

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! :D

this christmas is quite a sad one for me.

was supposed to go out with friends on christmas eve but mum didn't allow me to. i thought i could go out with my parents but both of them are just too busy with their work. my dad's office just shifted and he has to go back even on weekends too. so,i spent this christmas at home watching tv and tidying up my room. what a thing to do during christmas =(

anyway,it's only one week more to school re-opens.

one week left to complete my holiday homework.
one week left to get ready the books and stationery for the new school year.
one week left to get mentally prepared for sec 4 life.
one week left to tie up the loose ends of 2006.
one week left to get over everything that was never meant to be.

why did i let myself believe that miracles could happen?

the past 5 days were occupied by npcc. went back to sch from monday to thursday for np 'tour de force' course. it's a course conducted by our CIs and we have been going back to sch everyday from 8am to 6pm. learned lots of new things and the activities we did were all different from what we usually do in normal trainings. shall not go into details about everyday but i think i will just blog about the major activities that we did (:

Rope Obstacles
it isn't my first time trying out rope obstacles but it was sure my first time learning how to tie a rope obstacle [: it isn't easy at all cause the rope is so thick and super heavy and you have to exert so much force in order to make the tension good enough. of course,it requires alot of people to tie it and lots of teamwork too. i tried pulling the rope and it was really hard, haha. as it was raining that day,we had to do it in the canteen and the canteen was wet and slippery,so you have to try not to slip and fall while pulling the rope. we tried tying 2 obstacles namely the 'double rope pull' and the 'warden's walk' which took us about 2 hours to finish tying them. after that,we were given an hour to try on the obstacles. i didn't try though cause there isn't enough time,so we let the juniors try it. i think it's really nice cause you get that kind of sense of satisfaction when you tie your own obstacle and try on it :D

CSI (Crime Scene Investigation)
played this game on wed and it was very very fun =) haha,at least its something different and i've never played it before. as the name suggests,we're given a case and in our groups,we are supposed to solve the case. our CIs came up with the story and the information of the victims and suspects. they created the crime scenes and used the classrooms as rooms of the different suspects. from there,we are supposed to go to the crime scene and the rooms to look for clues then come up with a conclusion on how the case took place. it took us about 3 hrs to play the game and in the end,all of us came up with different conclusions and some were really funny (:

Field Cooking
it was a complete different experience. instead of cooking the normal instant noodles and canned food using mass tins and solid fuel, this time,we cooked chicken, rice, soup, vegetables etc! mr lee bought many food like fishballs, fish fillet, sausages crabmeats, veggies, chicken and lots of other stuffs and we are supposed to cook using just mass tins and solid fuel. my group cooked rice, fried fish fillet, mashed potatoes,stir-fried the veggies and made scrambled eggs. theresa and i also made soup!!! haha,we added fishcakes, sausages, crab meat and egg into our soup, with a little soy sauce, pepper and sesame oil,our soup was delicious!!! haha, not that i'm bragging but it's really nice ok,haha,at least theresa and I think that it's nice (: it was my first time cooking veggies and all that with mass tins and solid fuel. the experience was great and i guess everyone enjoyed it alot =D

the course was a fun one,and i really got to know my np juniors better :D think the CIs and officers put in alot of effort to plan for this course and we really want to thank them.
THANK YOU SIRS!!! :]

------------------------------------

after the course on thurs,i went for the prefects graduation party for the sec 4s. want to apologise for being very very late. anyway, the food was great and i want to thank all those who helped to organise it. a big sorry to all prefects for not helping much with the organisation of the party as i have np course for the 4 days, sorry guys :(

to all sec 4 prefects: you all have been great seniors who never fail to give us advice. thank you very much for all your guidances. hope that you all enjoyed the party :D

------------------------------------

yst was the day when the new sec 1s report to school. we went back to school to do ushering and road marshall duty. reached school at 6.30am,changed to full-u and then assembled in the parade square. checked the uniforms of the cadets and then the sec 2 i/cs briefed everyone on what to do. got into our positions by 7.45am and we started on our duty. i was at the main gate doing the ushering job. everything went well until when the sec 1s proceeded to the canteen to buy their books. it was messy there and many parents were complaining about the schools' poor organisational skills. luckily, the problem was solved and we just continued doing our duties till 11am. yupp, that's roughly about it,nothing much to say. haha ;]

------------------------------------

i'm really exhausted these few days and i seriously need my sleep. haha, finally i'm free today and i'm gonna go shopping with priscilla and theresa!!! it's been a long time since i went shopping with them xD

back from 1e1'04 chalet,as well as family chalet. had a hell lot of fun (:

13/12/06 (wed)
took the same bus as theresa, kenneth, seng guan and cherine. i am the first one to get on the bus, followed by theresa, kenneth and seng guan and then cherine. but i was late,so the rest had to wait at their bus stops, theresa told me they missed 5 buses while waiting for me. haha, sorry guys. reached there at around 12.40pm and we met su shan, kah wai, seng meng, yuan xiang, hoe kin, sean and yong sheng. took bus 354 to downtown east and went to macs to meet looyee, juv, cher, jas, hao zhi and jia yi. so we waited at macs for mr ng and then checked in to the chalet.

the chalet's nice but it's super small. luckily we booked 2 rooms joined together (: the boys started playing cards and x-box while the girls watched tv. yupp, and we were getting so bored that we started playing this disgusting 'bra' game. hahaha! the objective of the game is to know the colour of everyone's bras. so we started grabbing each other and pulling up the shirts to see the colour of the bras. it was super sick. haha,so after that we went for dinner at downtown east food court and headed back to chalet.

we started doing some silly stuffs and playing many games. it was hilarious.
1) looyee, juv and I had a lion dance using blankets
2) looyee and juv imitated shi xin hui's mtv
3) cher filmed the process of looyee giving birth (to a pillow -.-)
4) hz played fatal frame and we were all screaming when the ghost appeared
5) all of us played jenga (truth or dare) game and we made a fool out of ourselves =D
6) played 'murderer' and we had a hard time 'winking' at each other, haha!

after that, was supposed to do report but ended up having a talk with milfred. had a good time chatting [: we only went to slp at about 3.30am and woke up at 6.30am. i didn't slp though, cause initially i slept on the bed but it was too squeezy,so i went to slp on the floor, but the floor was too hard, the room was freezing cold and i didn't have a blanket to cover myself,so i ended up no being able to slp.

14/12/06 (thurs)
went to sch at 8.30am with mil and su shan. mil and i gotta go hand in the prefects report to mrs tan and su shan had to go back to sch to collect her books. took bus 89 there and it was a long trip. reached sch at 9.30am,but we were not allowed to get in cause we were in slippers. tried to explain to mr rashidin that we came from chalet and didn't have shoes, but he didn't allow us to go in,so we had no choice but to pass the report to pei yi and pris and then go off. su shan went home while mil went home to take some stuffs. i waited for him at the void deck. after that, took bus back to chalet.

slacked around for awhile, then juv, looyee theresa and i went to white sands. we had lunch at cavanna and went to ntuc to buy the stuffs that we haven't bought for bbq. reached the chalet at about 4pm,and we started preparing for the bbq night. hz's chicken wings were really nice. i didn't bbq much though cause i was busy frying seaweed chicken, nuggets and fries in the room. haha. there was also alot of alcholic drinks like jolly shandy, tiger beer, vodka and bacardi breezer. after bbq,we took turns to bathe and then we started palying truth or dare again! this time with more ppl like eileen and sophia :D looyee thought of many funny dares for us to do,and all of us had a good time laughing at each other. haha! =)

anyway, after that, juv, cher, looyee,hz and jy went out while eileen, sop, theresa,su shan, kenneth, seng guan, sean and me played heartattack! haha, screamed alot and it was fun (: it was alrdy 3.30am,su shan and cherine went to slp, eileen and sop went out so the rest of us played dai dee until 5.30am. slept for 3 hrs and i woke up at 8.30am.

15/12/06 (fri)
everyone else were still slping so i went over to the boys room to watch them play ps2. they were playing some fighting game. i played one round with yong sheng, and of course,i died terribly >.< looyee, juv, cher,jy and hz went home at 9.30am. the rest of us packed up the stuffs and we checked out at 11.30am. headed to macs to have lunch,i don't know why but theresa, cherine, kenneth, seng guan and i were talking about some serious stuffs. like future of singapore and education system, haha.

reached home at 2pm,and i went to slp. overslept and was late for tuition =X anyway, tuition ended at 8pm and i took bus back to pasir ris for my family chalet. didn't do much there except eat and slp. haha.

16/12/06 (sat)
woke up in the morning and i had a bad sore throat. almost lost my voice >.< went to meet kw,aaron, gerard and tai hong at compass at 1pm. as usual they were late and we only left the place at 3pm. took bus 80 to beach road to buy the stuffs for np course and then i went back to the chalet.

sorry that i didn't go for 3e2 farewell party for mdm sarifah at east coast. dad wanted me to be back at chalet by 6pm and also i was sick,so i couldn't make it. sorry guys. hope that you all had a great time there.

to mdm sarifah: thanks for being sucha great form teacher as well as geog teacher. we're gonna miss you next yr =( but whatever it is,all the best to you! we love you mdm sarifah!

17/12/06 (sun)
back at home from family chalet =) gotta go for physics and a maths tuition soon,so bye everyone!

1e1'04 chalet was really fun. it brought back memories of our sec 1 times, and i
really wish we could go back to sec 1 life. after 3 years in this sch,i still
love the ppl in 1e1. i'm just feeling so glad that all of us are still in touch
and that we can still play and have fun together like before [: i agree with
what su shan said, many of us have changed to better people =) time really flies
and next yr we'll all be taking our O levels. to all 1E1 ppl: wishing you guys
all the best next year. we'll have another chalet after O levels and by then,we
can really celebrate,haha! :D

Wednesday, December 13, 2006

yay!!! today's 1E1 chalet. will be staying there for the entire 3 days, hope that it all turns out well (:

anyway, sorry everyone for my previos 2 posts,i guess i was being way too emo. yupp, enough of it.

wanna thank everyone for their encouragements,i really appreciate them :D i think what eunice said was really meaningful. she said that we can manifest anything positive or negative in our lives,it's our choice. yupp,i fully agree with it. perhaps it was because i did not open myself up to the positive side of things, and only viewed it all in a negative way. so i'll try to be more optimistic and also to welcome every new day with a smile :]

to everyone else who is not in a good mood recently for some reasons: cheer up! smile and the whole world smiles with you =D

i don't know why but i'm still in a very lousy mood. does it really mean that having more commitments means you have to sacrifice your social circle?

rahhhhh! friendship is such a complicated thing :[

very often,i'm very envious when i see my friends going out with their cliques during school hols, and spending much time with their friends. and i ask myself, why is it that i can't be like them?

i feel lonely, not literally, but i just have the strong feeling of emptiness deep in me. why is it that sometimes when i put my whole trust in someone, that person never fails to let me down?i'm tired of trusting people too easily. on the other hand,i have to trust the people around me,cause i'm a human too,i need a shoulder to cry on when i'm down, and i need someone who truely understands what i'm going through.

having to handle many commitments and responsibilities even during the hols,it's always hard to try to fit in anywhere especially when you are like absent for a period of time, and when you are back, everyone just seems so alien and unfamiliar to you, even your close friends. suddenly, all of them seemed so distant and you don't understand what they are talking about anymore.

on the surface,it appears i can click very well with the people around me,but when i have problems,i seriosuly don't know who to turn to. yes,at a superficial level, one may seem to have many friends, but so what if you have so many friends but in actual fact most of them are just hi-bye friends?

oh well,
i miss the times when i can just hang out with my friends after school,or go out with them during the hols :(
i miss the times when i can have lunch together with my friends after school, and just talk about anything under the sun :(
i miss the times when i don't feel strange in some places, and i feel comfortable with anyone, with the people around me :(

*when is all these going to end?

i came across this and i find it rather interesting,so i decided to post it here (: here goes..

Exercise of the brain is as important as exercise of the muscles. As we grow older, it's important that we keep mentally alert. The saying; "If you don't use it, you will lose it"also applies to the brain,so........ Below is a very private way to gauge your loss or non-loss of intelligence.

So take the following test presented here and determine if you are losing it or are still "with it."

The spaces below are so you don't see the answers until you have made your own.....

OK, relax, clear your mind and...begin.

===========

1. What do you put in a toaster?

The answer is "bread."
If you said"toast," then give up now and go do something else. Try not to hurt yourself. If you said,"bread," go to Question 2.

2. Say "silk" five times. Now spell"silk." What do cows drink?

Answer: Cows drink water.
If you said"milk,"please do not attempt the next question. Your brain is obviously overstressed and may even overheat. It may be that you need to content yourself with reading something more appropriate such as"Children'sWorld." If you said,"water" then proceed to Question 3.

3. If a red house is made from red bricks and a blue house is made from blue bricks and a pink house is made from pink bricks and a black house is made from black bricks, what is a greenhouse made from?

Answer: Greenhouses are made from glass.
If you said "green bricks,"what the devil are you still doing here reading these questions????? If you said "glass," then go on to Question 4.

4. Twenty years ago, a plane is flying at 20,000 feet over Germany. If you will recall, Germany at the time was politically divided into West Germany and East Germany. Anyway, during the flight, TWO of the engines fail. The pilot, realizing that the last remaining engine is also failing, decides on a crash landing procedure.Unfortunately the engine fails before he has time and the plane crashes smack in the middle of "no man's land" between East Germany and WestGermany. Where would you bury the survivors? East Germany or West Germany or in "no man's land"?

Answer: You don't, of course, bury survivors.
If you said ANYTHING else, you are a real dunce and you must NEVER try to rescue anyone from a plane crash. Your efforts would not be appreciated. If you said, "Don't bury the survivors" then proceed to the next question.

5. If the hour hand on a clock moves 1/60 of a degree every minute then how many degrees will the hour hand move in one hour?

Answer: One degree.
If you said "360 degrees" or anything other than "one degree," you are to be congratulated on getting this far,but you are obviously out of your league. Turn your pencil in and exit the room. Everyone else proceed to the final question.

6. Without using a calculator -- You are driving a bus from London to Milford Haven in Wales. In London, 17 people get on the bus. In Reading, six people get off the bus and nine people get on.In Swindon, two people get off and four get on. In Cardiff, 11people get off and 16 people get in. In Swansea, three people get off and five people get on. In Carmathen, six people get off and three get on.You then arrive at Milford Haven. What was the name of the bus driver?

Answer: Oh, for crying out loud! Don't you remember? It was YOU, you dummy. :p

i'm back from malaysia! :D

Day 1
we set off frm sch at 7.00am. as usual,it was a long journey to malaysia and we finally reach sarang buaya campsite at ard 12.30pm. had lunch and we proceeded on for our activities!

my grp did raft-building first. we were given 4 barriers and raffia strings to build our raft. it was kinda hard cause not everyone knows how to tie lashings,so the instructor taught us how to tie cross lashing and after that, everyone started assembling the raft. we managed to build our raft after an hour thanks to the cooperation of everyone in the group :] when we push our raft into the water and it floated,we were all really happy, and there was a great sense of satisfaction =) we went onto the raft that we built and we did rafting! it was difficult for us to even move the raft cause there were ard 14 of us on it. we had 6 paddles and we took turns to paddle the raft cause it was very tiring. in the end,a few of us decided to go down the water to push the raft, haha, and i was one of them (: the water was shallow but it's super muddy,to the extent that once you step on the ground, your feet will sink into the mud. it's gross but we seldom get this kinda experience,so i guess it was all worth it :D after rafting was canoeing. i partnered pei yi and we canoed 2 times back and forth the whole stream..it wasn't very tough canoeing there as compared to canoeing at kallang river cause the water was much more calm, plus me and pei yi got great coordination,so it wasn't much of a problem, hahaha xD

after all the activities,we went to bathe. the toilet was not really like a toilet, haha. the showers weren't working so we had to wash our hair outside, den go into the cubicle, fill the pails with water and shower our body. there were also lizards in the toilet,creepy..haha. had dinner and after that we went to a room in the campsite and had our reflections time,we also had to write an essay about a friend who we witness displaying the school values. haha, this is the first time i write an essay during camp >.< after that was supper and then we returned to out tents to slp =)

Day 2
woke up at 6.30am,went to wash up and then we had our breakfast. after that we left the campsite for trekking at gunung muar trek. it's actually a mountain but quite a short one, cause it only took us 2 hrs plus to go up and down, but the view on top was simply beautiful =]

we then returned to our campsite, pack up our stuffs and had lunch there. left the campsite at ard 1pm for sri coasta hotel. reached there at 3.00pm,changed into the shirt specially made for this trip and went to the seminar room. there we had our seminar until 6.30pm. we discussed about the prefects vision mission, expectations of prefects etc. it's actually a review of the yr 2006 and i think it's great to do it somewhere else instead of doing it in sch,at least it'd be more interesting (:

after the seminar,we returned to our hotel rooms for a bath before going to shop at tesco. pei yi,jia qi,jasmine and i went to the supermarket to get snacks for the night! haha,we bought fruit juice, cup noodles, tidbits and lots of stuffs. went back to the hotel and the 3 of them including shirley and trena came to my room. we sort of had a party inside, haha. we watched disney channel throughout the night and did the homework that ms norlina asked us to do. had a great time =)

Day 3
breakfast at the hotel was yummy! i always loved hving breakfast with my friends, esp breakfast in hotels cause it's usually buffet style and there are alot of things to eat, haha. after breakfast,we went back to our rooms, pack our bags and left the hotel at 10am.

the tour guide took us around malacca for a historical tour, before we were given time to shop at a nearby shopping centre. i didn't buy anything though cause i couldn't find anything that i feel like buying, haha. we went to a place where they sell local produce after that, and then went to jusco shopping centre to have lunch.

we left the place for singapore at 2pm. everyone were all tired and exhausted so we were all slping on the bus. home sweet home at 6.30pm :D
____________________________________________________________

now for the reflections part.

i think this trip was really fruitful and i enjoyed myself thoroughly. it was good for ms norlina to group us instead of letting us choose our own groups cause we get to interact with the others and get to know them better. this trip bonded all of us together and i really hope that everyone will be more committed to the prefectorial board after this. teamwork is an important factor for the board to function well, and i hv confidence in all the prefects that they will work together as a team for the well being of the board. all of us may face obstacles but as long as we stay positive and never give up,we're gonna brave through the darkest storms. man,i think i sound like mr reduan now, haha.

credit goes to haziqah and shareena for the pics [:

can we do it? yes we can!
